Welcome to Season 2020!
The biggest and best season yet..
Greetings Collectors!
We’ve got some big news (and some teasers) to share with you all today. We’ve set the launch date for Season 2020 — it’ll be dropping this Thursday, February 27th and let me tell you — this is going to be our best season yet. By Far. Let me tell you why…
MORE Big Teams + Official Partnerships
We’ve been working extremely hard behind the scenes to line up some big partnerships so that we can make our CSGO collection even better this season. We’ll be making a big announcement on that front along with the launch on Thursday.
Suffice it to say — 2020 will have a LOT more of the top teams in the ecosystem and official event content.
This is big for a few reasons beyond just getting to collect more teams. Official event partnerships are a critical component for us to make the collection better with things like video cards that capture unforgettable moments at tournaments, official event sets and much more candid photos to make the cards more exciting.
Hint: Tune in and watch some Counter Strike this week to get an early preview :)
New Designs and Card Layouts
Along with the 2020 launch, we’re also releasing new tech to power how we render cards in our apps. This won’t be noticeable to you, but it will have a big impact. The new system will allow our creative team to have much more freedom in how they design cards. Again, this means that this season’s content is going to be a big step up in terms of production value.
Streamlined Pack Options
We’ve decided to simplify the packs available in the pack shop for this season — starting Thursday we will have three pack options for collecting the core set: Purple, Gold and Diamond. Team packs will no longer be available and team player + logo cards will be available in Diamond packs.
Our goal is to simplify the buying options for collectors and also to make life easier for our content team. We may bring team packs back throughout the season for special events, but we don’t have anything specific planned or ready to announce yet.
Oh and one more thing…
Have you ever thought to yourself, “man I wish I could get some physical Epics cards?” Well my friends, just wait until you see what we have in store for you in 2020. Here’s a little preview to hold you over…
We’re still finalising all the plans for the physical set and we’ll keep you all posted on release dates as we get more locked down.
We’re excited to see where we can take the interaction between digital and physical experiences in the future and hopefully you’re all as excited as we are!
Thanks for all your support during our first three seasons and the many seasons yet to come!
